Heraeus Ushers in Next Generation of Desensitizers with Gluma® Desensitizer PowerGel

New non-drip, non-runny formula offers improved handling, easier control and greater accuracy while delivering the same level of desensitization as Gluma® liquid

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, February 15, 2011—Heraeus, the worldwide leader in dental esthetics, announced today the launch of Gluma® Desensitizer PowerGel its new one-step gel formula desensitizer that allows for accurate control and placement to reduce or eliminate dentinal hypersensitivity.

For 20 years, its predecessor Gluma® Desensitizer has been the industry leader and frontrunner in eliminating post-op sensitivity. It has been used in over 50 million restorations worldwide and is the only desensitizer on the market that has received the maximum “Five Star Award” from Reality, the reputable American test institute.* The new Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel delivers the same level of desensitization as Gluma liquid but also offers better handling, easier control, and greater accuracy, due to both its unique gel consistency and green-color indication which allows the practitioner to see where the material is being placed.

“Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel’s distinctive no-drip formula offers easier control of placement,” says Robert Marus, DDS. “It stays where you place it, minimizing the possibility of touching soft tissue. Additionally, the color indicator aids in ease of visual placement and removal,” he explains.

Important features of the new Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel include:

• One step placement – no agitation necessary
• No light curing required
• Gel consistency for greater control and accuracy during placement
• No-drip formula, so it stays where you place it
• Green color indicator allowing for easy visual placement and rinse-clean capability
• Same efficacy as Gluma Desensitizer for fast, long-term desensitizing

Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel is indicated for the reduction or elimination of pain caused by hypersensitivity in exposed cervical areas that do not require restorations. It is also indicated in use for reduction or elimination of dentin sensitivity after preparation of teeth to receive fixed prosthesis or restorations.

“Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel delivers the same efficacy that has earned Gluma Desensitizer industry-wide accolades as the benchmark in desensitization. The gel consistency and non-drip features allow practitioners greater control and accuracy during application, reducing potential contact with soft tissue and providing value in a number of indications,” explains Amanda Holland, product manager for Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel.
