Synopsis:
The never-ending war against oral disease comes with one benefit: We’re given new weapons every so often to help make a fighting difference for countless patients. One of the newest weapons that has emerged is silver diamine fluoride (SDF). SDF’s unique composition has proven to be an incredibly useful medicament not only for extreme cases but in day-to-day traditional dentistry as well.
Description of Speaker:
Judy Bendit, RDH, BS, has more than 45 years of experience in dentistry. She is a speaker, an author, a clinician, a faculty member of the Temple University School of Dentistry, an alumni board member at The University of Pennsylvania Dental School and an advisory board member at Palm Beach State College. Bendit is also a longstanding member of ADHA and a Distinguished Academy member of the Pennsylvania DHA, and a volunteer clinician at home and abroad.
Patti DiGangi, RDH, BS, is an international speaker who works with dental professionals to improve practice profitability. She is the author of the 2016 book A Gingivitis Code Finally!, the fifth book in the DentalCodeology series of bite-sized books for busy people. DiGangi also wrote one of the chapters in the CDT 2017 Companion. She holds publishing and speaking licenses with the American Dental Association for Current Dental Terminology and SNODENT Diagnostic Coding, and is a member of the National Speakers Association. Educational Objectives:

Compare SDF to traditional fluoride. Understand the mechanism of action of SDF. Discuss indications and contraindications for use. Identify challenges associated with SDF. Review protocol for use. Review related CDT codes.
