Synopsis:
Science is a moving target, and when we graduate, we are notoriously behind the new techniques and information for patient treatment. If you have ever uttered the sentences; “but that’s not what I learned in school”’ then this course is for you. In this course, we will touch on the psychology behind why we hold to the techniques and products we used when we were in school and how we can move with science to improve our patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Identify the cognitive behaviors we see in ourselves as clinicians and in our patients when confronted with change.
  • List the ways that dentistry anticipates results from earlier recommendations but patients are not complying.
  • Analyze current at-home recommendations for patients including product give-a-ways
  • Review past expectations and employ new proposals to motivate patients
  • Determine the best methods to encourage patients and deliver treatment alternatives within your practice
