Every new year, many of us look back and take inventory of our past experiences and some of us make it a point to implement a resolution for a new direction in our lives. We at Hygienetown are announcing our own new year's resolution.
Starting in March 2009, Hygienetown Magazine is going digital!
There are a plethora of reasons for this change. Going digital, of course, means taking a big step in the "green" direction – something we can all get behind. Cost was also a major factor in our decision to move to a digital version. The current economy hasn't been kind to news publications – the price of paper is on the rise, as are postal costs, making it ever more difficult to provide Hygienetown to you for free. While we know that many of you would consider paying for a subscription, from our perspective there is no reason any of you should start paying for something you've always received free of charge.
All you need to access the digital edition of Hygienetown is an up-to-date Web browser and a current e-mail address on file with Hygienetown.com. Special software is not required and issues are not downloaded to your desktop. You will have access to your copy – recent or archived – from any Internet connection at any time.
Perio issues are not just a concern for dental hygienists, but for general dentists as well. Therefore, content that appears in the new digital edition of Hygienetown will be featured in a new monthly section in Dentaltown Magazine. Topics raised in the Hygienetown section of Dentaltown Magazine will provide a basis for conversations to start and new discussions to take place between dentists and hygienists, thus building a stronger team approach to providing optimal oral health care.
While we are no longer publishing a stand-alone printed version of Hygienetown Magazine, we are still providing you – dentists and hygienists alike – with the type of cutting-edge oral health-related content you've received since Hygienetown's inception. Now, instead of 10 months of Hygienetown Magazine, you will receive 12 months of hygiene content through Dentaltown and the digital edition!
