NEW ORAL-B® TRIUMPH WITH SMARTGUIDE IS THE FIRST POWER TOOTHBRUSH TO COMBINE BEST-IN-CLASS BRUSHING WITH A WIRELESS DISPLAY
New Product Provides Visual Guidance to Promote Optimal Brushing Habits
CINCINNATI, OH, JUNE 12, 2007 – Procter & Gamble’s Oral-B® brand today announced the launch of Oral-B® Triumph™ with SmartGuide™, the first rechargeable toothbrush to combine best-in-class cleaning and gum care with a wireless display to promote optimal brushing habits. Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide’s wireless display acts like a dental professional in your bathroom, guiding your brushing experience with while-you-brush feedback to help you brush thoroughly, gently and for the dental-recommended two minutes.
“To get the best possible oral health you need both the best toothbrush and you need to brush the best possible way,” said Dr. Paul Warren, vice president, Global Professional and Scientific Relations, Oral Care, P&G. “Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide was designed to bring together the technology clinically proven to provide superior cleaning and improved gum health by preventing and even reversing gingivitis with a visible display to help improve your brushing habits.”
The newest innovation from Oral-B features Smart Technology, in which the brushhead, handle and visual display work together to provide instant interactive feedback to help you brush your best every day. The brushhead and handle are embedded with microchips. The handle communicates with the wireless display to track usage, notifying you when to replace the brushhead, to count down two minutes (the minimal dental-recommended brushing time), to guide you to each quadrant of the mouth and to signal when you are brushing too hard.
Oral health remains a widespread problem across the country, with more than half (53 percent) of adults having some form of gingivitis, and 75 percent of people over the age of 35 having some form of gum disease.[1] In fact, Americans lose up to 164 million hours of work each year due to dental visits or problems.2 Yet, the average person spends less than a minute brushing his or her teeth.3 With Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide, you are up to four times more likely to brush the dental-recommended two minutes than with a regular manual toothbrush.
Tooth loss is also a common problem among Americans, with one in four adults age 60 and older having lost all his or her teeth.4 Brushing too hard can contribute to early gum recession, a precursor to tooth loss. The first and only visible pressure sensor alert in Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide tells the user when he or she is brushing too hard.
Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide employs Oral-B’s proven oscillating-rotating technology, surrounding each tooth to gently remove plaque between teeth and along the gum line. An independent review concluded that power toothbrushes with oscillating-rotating technology were shown to be consistently better at removing plaque and reducing gingivitis than manual toothbrushing.
Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide will be available in North America in September 2007 at department, retail and specialty stores for a suggested retail price of $149.99. For additional information regarding Oral-B Triumph with SmartGuide visit http://www.oralb.com.
