Synopsis:
Cysts may be commonly seen clinically and radiographically in the oral region and, as such, are imperative for all dental professionals to recognize and understand. The etiology, clinical manifestations, symptoms and treatment options of common odontogenic and nonodontogenic cysts as well as pseudocysts are discussed.
Description of Speaker:
Deborah Levin-Goldstein is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.
She was a dental hygiene educator at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA for thirty-seven years. She retired from teaching in 2019 and practices clinically in private dental offices.
Deborah has presented numerous continuing education courses locally on a variety of topics to dental and dental hygiene societies. She presented courses nationally for Dentaltown and Hygienetown.
She has published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene and is a contributing author for six chapters in the textbook, Head, Neck and Dental Anatomy, fourth edition.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
Describe the differences between odontogenic and nonodontogenic cysts. Distinguish between intraosseous cysts and extraosseous cysts. Describe the etiology, clinical manifestations, symptoms and treatment options for the following cysts and pseudocysts: Radicular, Residual, Dentigerous, Eruption, Primordial, Odontogenic Keratocyst, Calcifying Odontogenic, Lateral Periodontal, Gingival, Glandular Odontogenic, Nasoplatine canal, Median Palatine, Globulomaxillary, Median Mandibular, Nasolabial, Lymphoepithelial, Epidermal, Dermoid, Thyroglossal Tract, Stafne Defect, Simple Bone and Aneurysmal Bone.
