I have exciting news! We now have more than 16,000 registered users on Hygienetown.com and we’re still growing! To see Hygienetown statistics, click on “Message Boards” in the right-side menu and then scroll to the bottom of the page. If you’re not one of the 16,000 online members, register now and join the
fun and learning on Hygienetown.com. Registration is simple – it only takes a few minutes and costs nothing. Be sure to have your dental hygiene license number handy as you will need it. Students can register without a license number.
Your first visit to Hygienetown.com might be a bit overwhelming as there are 15 forums with dozens of topics/subjects under that and hundreds of message boards to read. Here’s the secret to the two-minute visit to Hygienetown. Simply click on “Today’s Active Topics.” This will show you what hygienists are talking about today. You can read a few lines of the latest post to get the flavor of the discussion. If you want to read more, click on the message board topic typed in blue and it will take you to the discussion.
If you cannot stop by the site every day, but you want a quick look at what happened the past few days or weeks, start at Today’s Active Topics and look for the blue “Previous Day” button. Continue to click on this button to see what you’ve missed the past several days. You can even pick a specific day by clicking on the tiny calendar between the Previous Day and Next Day buttons.
If you have questions, we now have a cool “Help?/FAQs” (frequently asked questions) link at the very top of the page. Click here and a separate window opens so you can follow the instructions and still view the Hygienetown Web page you’re on. You can always e-mail me directly if you have questions: trisha@hygienetown.com.
We are also very close to our goal of receiving signed subscription cards from 50 percent of our mailing list for this year. Help us reach that goal by signing and sending back the subscription card in this issue of the magazine.
This month our Profile in Oral Health explores career options with interviews of three hygienists who have remained clinically involved, but created new and exciting careers. If you have questions for these hygienists after reading about their exciting careers, you can ask them on Hygienetown.com. Click Today’s Active Topics and search for “Career Options.” See you on Hygienetown.com
