Flor-Opal Varnish

Flor-Opal Varnish, 5% sodium fluoride FX Flex Tip
Posted: April 28, 2006

Delivery and consistency you can count on!

Great tasting Flor-Opal varnish has a unique mixing and delivery system that overcomes the main problems inherent to fluoride varnishes: separation of the fluoride from the resin carrier, difficult delivery and unpleasant taste.

Flor-Opal Varnish provides convenience to the doctor and patients. The syringe delivery saves time and avoids having to repeat dipping the brush into the mixing well and reapplying to the teeth. Flor-Opal Varnish is consistently freshly mixed upon application, and can be used 3-5 days after mixing.

Features & Benefits

·         5% sodium fluoride varnish

·         Flor-Opal Varnish syringe to syringe mixing assures no separation and an even distribution of the fluoride throughout the varnish

·         Syringe delivery provides an easy, no mess application in hard to reach areas

·         FX Flex tip allows clear visibility and control with easy application

·         Three great flavors: mint, grape and bubble gum

·         Effective fluoride treatment- fluoride varnishes provide the highest concentration of fluoride available

·         Ideal for Orthodontic patients

·         Great for difficult children

·         Unit Dose, one syringe per patient.

Procedure:

1.     A dental prophylaxis itself is not necessary to gain the benefit of the fluoride varnish. However, a thorough brushing is advised before placement.

2.     Grasp syringes with both hands between index and middle finger.  To mix, push material from white syringe to the clear syringe and back 5 times.  Push varnish into white syringe for delivery.  This remixes the content and ensures full suspension of the ingredients.  Twist on the FX Flex tip tightly.  The tip may be bent up to a 90 degree angle for convenience of application. (Product will not flow freely if tip is bent too much)

3.     Blot dry the tooth with a cotton roll or gauze square prior to application.  Express a small bead of varnish from the FX Flex tip. Brush a thin smooth layer onto the area or tooth being treated.  Gently pull the lips over the tooth surface to ensure saliva contact with the varnish.

4.     Varnish hardens when it comes in contact with saliva and will stay in place several hours to days.  Avoid brushing and chewing hard foods for the first 4-6 hours to enhance the retention of the varnish.

5.     The longer the varnish is in contact with the tooth, the greater effect.  For extreme sensitivity, patient may need to return for consecutive treatments.
