What Should You Eat the Day of the Exam?
One important question we all have (or had) when taking our dental hygiene exams. What should I eat so I am full, but not sleepy, and keep going for hours without feeling tired? Should I eat a granola bar? Should I eat a full meal? The dental hygiene national exam is especially long, so it important to make your body ready for the challenge. I am not a nutritionist nor a dietitian, so I cannot I don’t have a real answer. But I would like to share some information that I found can be very helpful.
When it comes to nourishing our bodies and brains for optimal performance, it turns out good nutrition involves both what we eat and when we eat it. For example, our brains work best with about 25 grams of glucose circulating in our bloodstream -- about the amount found in a banana. So snacking on a banana between meals can actually help us sustain our brainpower.
Here is an infographic that could answer more of this answer. In the end, the point is to avoid “fast” sugars such as soda or candy. then we risk a blood sugar spike followed by a crash. The result? Low energy and low productivity. Have fun with the infographic!
