Medical Emergency: Nose Bleeds


If nose was hit, suspect fracture, Locate the bleeding source
• Apply direct pressure over the wound
• Place sterile dressing or cleanest cloth available
• If possible, use latex gloves, extra dressings or plastic wrap
• Do not remove first dressing if blood-soaked and others over it (this is changing to where you will
keep changing the bloody dressing)
• Do not remove impaled objects
