PRACTICEWORKS New Version

New Version of KODAK PRACTICEWORKS Practice Management Software Delivers Integration, Improved Care
Posted: March 24, 2005

A new version of KODAK PRACTICEWORKS Practice Management Software features enhanced integration with KODAK Dental Imaging Software, along with many other improvements to help boost practice efficiency and enhance standards of patient care.

With PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0, dental practices can now access the functionality of KODAK Digital Imaging Software—the software that runs their digital radiography and photography systems—right from their practice management desktops. Users can view, manage, and even acquire digital radiography images, without switching between computers or software programs.

Dr. Robert E. Day, DDS from Houston, Texas has tried this new version of PRACTICEWORKS Software and said that the improved integration is a real asset to his practice. “All the clinical records relating to a patient, including intraoral photographs and radiographs, are now just one click away,” said Dr. Day. “If I’m working on a front tooth, I can click the mouse and see everything I’ve done on that tooth: all the images, the entire clinical record. I can quickly access everything I need to make decisions, diagnose cases and take care of my patients.”

“Since Kodak develops, manufactures, and markets an entire portfolio of dental practice management and digital imaging software and equipment, we are uniquely positioned to help make practice integration a reality,” noted Paul Tucker, dental market manager, Kodak’s Dental Systems Group. “With PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0, practices who turn to us for technology solutions can realize the benefits of our commitment to practice integration.”

Enhancements Improve Efficiency, Patient Security
In addition to enhanced digital integration support, PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0 includes a number of other features most requested by Kodak customers. These include:

  • Additional integrated electronic services. We’ve added two additional integrated e-services to the PRACTICEWORKS Software to help improve your efficiency and decrease your accounts receivable. This new release features an integration with the CARECREDIT System, a leading online patient financing service, as well as our KODAK Online Insurance Eligibility Service, where updated available patient insurance benefits and eligibility can be verified online and saved in the patient record.
  • Enhancements for HIPAA security. New PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0 tools can help practices better prepare for the Security provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to go into effect in April 2005: the upgrade features a robust, HIPAA-compliant password system and an “automatic log-off” function to minimize the risk that an unattended computer will display patient information inappropriately.
  • Updated Current Dental Terminology (CDT). The upgrade includes the American Dental Association’s CDT-2005 codes and the new ADA 2005 dental claim form for efficient insurance claim processing.

Accommodating Customer Suggestions
Kodak regularly solicits input from customers as they plan product enhancements, using both formal and informal venues including calls to the company’s customer support center, annual dental users’ group meetings and input provided to trainers and product managers. For example, last March Kodak hosted a Practice Management Summit for customers who have switched from older practice management software programs to PRACTICEWORKS Software. Support team members invited these customers to tell Kodak what features they would most like to see incorporated into future practice management solutions. This input helped Kodak plan the PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0 upgrade.

Incorporating this feedback, this new version has been enhanced with over 75 suggestions from Kodak customers, including improved auto-scheduling capabilities and the ability to print and display a patient’s age in the scheduler. Automated insurance limitations are now also supported.

Enhanced Customer Support and Training Services
PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0 is backed by Kodak’s customer support services, including a support staff that has been increased by 25 percent in the past year. Kodak’s fast response to customer inquiries provides the expert guidance dental practices need—when they need it—so they can concentrate on what matters most: their patients.

To help maximize the benefits of PRACTICEWORKS Software v6.0, Kodak offers MASTERWORKS Update Training Courses where customers can learn about the new software features in convenient online or “hands on” training sessions. This new release is being shipped to dental practices that have enrolled in the software’s Advantage Plan support program. Customers participating in this plan can also enjoy the benefits of our new, convenient online update system.
