National Museum of Dentistry welcomes National Advisory Committee’s first international member
Posted: April 15, 2005

The Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry (NMD) announces the appointment of the first international member to the Museum’s National Advisory Committee (NAC). Dr. Randy Mazurat, Associate Dean (Academic) of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, accepted the invitation of NAC Chair Dr. Alan Singer to join the group on Friday, April 8. Dr. Mazurat recently visited NMD in Baltimore and expressed an enthusiastic interest in becoming a Museum advisor.

Though new to the National Museum of Dentistry, Dr. Mazurat is no stranger to international organized dentistry. He is the incoming president of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada and is an active member of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry and the American Dental Education Association. Recently, Dr. Mazurat was named the Canadian Dental Association representative to the American Dental Association’s Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP).

“We are truly fortunate to have found Dr. Mazurat, as well as other members of the NAC,” states Dr. Singer. “The NAC members are the backbone to the success of the Museum and we will continue to welcome highly motivated individuals to NAC membership.”

“Dr. Mazurat represents a new era for the National Museum of Dentistry,” states Ms. Rosemary Fetter, NMD’s Executive Director. “As the Museum approaches its tenth anniversary in 2006, we seek to engage dental professionals around the world to share their skills and resources with the Museum by serving in advisory roles. We are very pleased Dr. Mazurat is the first international member to take on this role.”

As a new member of the National Advisory Committee, Dr. Mazurat joins dental professionals from every state, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands in this elite advisory group. The NAC works with the Museum’s Board of Visitors to increase awareness of the Museum in represented areas, helping NMD expand local support for its traveling exhibition program and increasing financial support for the Museum. Current NAC members include several American Dental Association officers, ADA trustees and leaders of regional and state dental associations.
