Over 30,000,000 simple tooth extractions are performed each year. Research has shown that if left untreated, up to 40 percent of the alveolar bone around an extraction socket is lost within two years. This bone loss can result in compromised function and esthetics. What’s more, the bone loss can affect future options, such as implants, and can result in more involved surgery and higher cost to patients.
