Posted: November 20, 2006

The “Dental Health” episode of the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind television series sponsored by Tom’s of Maine earned a FREDDIE Award from the International Health and Medical Media Awards at a New York City ceremony.

The “Dental Health” episode focuses on the latest science linking oral health and overall body health.  It features Dr. Ray Williams, DMD, a Distinguished Professor of Periodontology at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.

“We are pleased to associate Tom’s of Maine with both Dr. Williams and the award winning Healthy Body, Healthy Mind program on dental health,” said Tom Chappell, co-founder and CEO of Tom’s of Maine.  “We are committed to bringing the latest information on oral-systemic health to our consumers; to providing effective oral health products made from plants and minerals, and to doing our part to address the lack of access to oral care through our Dental Health for All ™ program.”
Tom’s of Maine has been a sponsor of the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind series, the most often scheduled health-care oriented program on public television.  Since its release in August 2005, the program has aired more than 150 times in more than 106 million households across the country.
To further broaden the impact and reach of the oral-systemic health program, Tom’s of Maine partnered directly with dental professionals and consumers.  More than 1,800 dental offices in the United States requested and received special kits from Tom’s of Maine that included a DVD of the television program, 50 patient education journals to help patients track their own dental health, and a case of trial size ADA-Accepted Natural Anticavity Toothpaste.  More than 2,300 individual consumers also requested and received the DVD and patient education journal.

Tom’s of Maine was proud to sponsor the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind series through Information Television Network of Boca Raton, Florida, which is renowned for producing award-winning public health programming.
