TERRACYCLE, INC. AND COLGATE-PALMOLIVE COMPANY
INTRODUCE NEW ORAL CARE SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
Online program will repurpose Colgate® oral care products collected by consumers

TRENTON, N.J. (July 19, 2010) – TerraCycle, Inc. joins Colgate-Palmolive Company in announcing
the “Colgate Brigade,” TerraCycle’s first collection program for oral care products. As one of the fastest
growing eco-friendly manufacturers in the world, TerraCycle continues to produce affordable, ecofriendly
products from a wide range of different non-recyclable waste materials.

TerraCycle’s national programs repurpose non-recyclable waste materials through volunteer “Brigades.”
Each Brigade comprises local collection teams that register to collect a specific waste stream such as
snack packaging or school supplies. For every item collected, teams earn a two-cent contribution to
benefit a local school or charity of their choice. Participation is free and all shipping costs are paid.
“We are excited to expand our Brigade outreach through our new partnership with Colgate-Palmolive,”
said Tom Szaky, CEO, TerraCycle, Inc. “TerraCycle’s Brigades powerfully engage consumers in
promoting awareness about reducing, reusing and recycling. With Colgate’s support, consumers can now
cleanly and safely repurpose everyday oral care products, like Colgate® toothpaste tubes and
toothbrushes.”

The Colgate Brigade represents TerraCycle’s first initiative that empowers consumers to collect and reuse
oral care products and packaging on a national scale. TerraCycle’s Colgate Brigade accepts specific
Colgate® products including used toothpaste tubes, certain toothbrushes and even product packaging.
For every Colgate® oral care item submitted, Colgate-Palmolive will make a two-cent contribution to
support the causes designated by local collection teams.

“Colgate is committed to supporting the communities we serve and to respecting the world around us,”
said Spencer Pingel, general manager, U.S. oral care marketing, Colgate-Palmolive. “We’re proud to
partner with TerraCycle to introduce the Colgate Brigade. This initiative offers an innovative way for
Colgate to support local communities and for consumers to positively impact the environment by
repurposing their favorite Colgate® oral care products.
