An App for Study Boredom


Las Vegas, NV – February 7, 2012 – The two dental hygienists, Carrie Clotworthy and Karen Isbister, who created a dental hygiene board game Pass It! to help aid exam studies have now designed an app with the same aim. Both the game and the app incorporate more than 1,000 important dental hygiene questions in a fun game.

“The aim is to prepare any dental hygiene student for the board exam without the boredom, study fatigue or information overload usually associated with the intense exam studying,” said Carrie Clotworthy.

The app version of the board game is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The app was created with several goals in mind including: challenging dental hygiene students, maximizing study time and providing a fun “brush up.”

Carrie and Karen have experienced the board exam first hand and know that there is more to it than just taking a test. It’s about feeling confident, not second guessing and not overanalyzing each scenario. If a student knows the information, they will feel at ease during the exam in turn producing remarkable exam results. As a result the app questions are designed in a way that students are required to break away from the traditional multiple choice format and challenge themselves with fill in the blank answers.

Karen Isbister said “Have you ever been in line at the grocery store, waiting for a flight, or waiting for class to start and wished you could take those few extra minutes to study? Now you can. No more bringing text books, homemade flashcards, or notes with you. We know dental hygiene students have very little spare time, so the goal of the app was to provide students with a study tool that is easily accessible on-the-go. “

Fellow registered dental hygienists who have tried out the app to see how much they know found that much information is left behind. Dental hygienists are very dedicated to continuing education, if some time is focused brushing up on the basics, it will help provide a more solid foundation for future learning. The Pass It! app provides a fun review for registered dental hygienists without the pressure of grades and exams.

About the app
The app was designed so users could determine which subjects they needed to further study and which ones they already have mastered. It is a great way to find your weak and strong subjects BEFORE you take the exam. Each subject can be bought individually and re-taken as many times as needed to score that perfect 100%. The scores can be posted on Facebook to let your fellow students know how awesome you really are and challenge them to beat your score. Again, making the study process fun and rewarding! Some first year students have mentioned they have used the app for test prep at the end of each semester. One student stated she was surprised at all the info she had forgotten in just one semester.
