First Aid: Heat Related Emergencies-Heat Exhaustion/Heart Stroke

Heat Exhaustion

Move patient to a cool place
• Elevate patient’s legs 8-12 inches
• Remove excess clothing
• Sponge victim with cool water and fan
• Drink plenty of water and electrolytes. If patient becomes dehydrated for too long, you will need to seek Medical attention. They can become unresponsive.

Heat Stroke

Call 911 and seek medical attention immediately! Move the victim to a cool place and remove clothing
Take a cold hose and run the water on them.
