Enova Medical Technologies Launches the Halo™ Cordless LED Surgical Headlight Halo is Enova’s First Proprietary Product in the Surgical Lighting Market
Posted: April 6, 2005

Surgeons are now free to move about the operating room with the Halo™ Cordless LED Surgical Headlight, the only completely cordless LED (light emitting diode) surgical headlight powerful enough for operating room applications. Enova Medical Technologies today announced the launch of the Halo, a joint effort between Enova and VisiLED, Inc., a Vestal, N.Y. medical products company. The exclusive partnership grants Enova rights to develop, manufacture and distribute all surgical headlight products using VisiLED’s proprietary technology.

Illuminated by LED technology and powered with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, the Halo delivers bright, cool light that provides greater color and tissue differentiation than standard headlight systems. With its cordless feature, the Halo eliminates the need to tether the surgeon to a fiber optic cable and a bulky power supply, reducing operating room logistical issues and overall maintenance for the surgical center.

“This technology was developed out of a true need to deliver exceptional light quality, mobility and comfort to physicians and cost savings and decreased maintenance to the surgical center,” said Randall K. Seeliger, president, Enova Medical Technologies. “The medical community was long overdue for innovations in surgical headlight technology and we are excited to partner with VisiLED to leverage our extensive medical device experience and define a new market segment.”

The Halo is Enova’s first proprietary product in the surgical lighting market. For nearly 40 years, Enova has provided product development, manufacturing and commercialization services for the medical device industry, as well as having developed, manufactured and sold proprietary medical devices. Enova is the first and only company in the cordless LED surgical headlight market. United States patents are pending. The FDA-cleared Class I Halo is manufactured in Enova's ISO 9001, ISO 13485 certified facility in St. Paul under GMP regulations.

About VisiLED

Based on the ideals and obligations of the medical profession, the company harnesses the unique advantages and capabilities of LED technology in order to improve the quality of healthcare. VisiLED measures its success not only in conventional business terms, but also by the company’s contributions to training and education, patient care and the medical profession itself.
