Social media isn’t just for the young and the millennials. Believe it or not, it’s also for professionals like dentists!

As a dentist, of course, you know a lot about oral health and you’ve got a lot to share, but when it is time to get into posting, you find yourself procrastinating. Is posting on social media that hard?

Of course, it takes time and patience to get comfortable with using social media. However, we’ve got your back. Here are some useful ideas to get you started. This article is written with the help of Dr. David Remaley is a highly trained dentist and has restored many patient’s teeth and created beautiful and healthy smiles for over 30 years.

1. Be you.

When we talk about dentists, the first thing that comes to mind is a photo of a person in white, holding a pair of gloves and fixing up the teeth of a patient. But that doesn’t always have to be the case. As a person, you also have a life outside your profession. You can post a photo of you and your team out for a vacation in an island. Just show the world how fun you are as a team and a person.

2. Keep your followers on the loop.

The truth is social media encourages us to be a bit inquisitive. We always like to be involved and on the loop about something or simply have access to behind-the-scenes, especially when it comes to a place we will be going often. Therefore, if you are a dentist and your clinic is going through a renovation, take photos of what’s going on and share it with your followers. Write short posts about how the renovation is going.

3. Be thankful for your loyal patients.

If a patient is happy with your service, he/she is most likely to recommend you to people he knows and go back to you when the need arises. Of course, that’ll help in increasing your revenue. So, in return, you have to show him gratitude. One best way to do that is to write a post about your day with him/her. You can also snap a photo of you and him/her and share it as well.

4. Establish great connections with locals.

One of the easiest ways to build a huge following on social media is to share posts that can be shared by other people. For instance, if you drop by at a gasoline station every morning to fill up your fuel tank, you can snap a photo of the staff as he gases up. And then, caption it with a few words about how he has helped you complete your day. In your post, you can personally tag the person or the business he is working for. Once he receives a notification that you have mentioned him, chances are, he will share the post with his followers, too.

5. Don’t be shy to show up your quirky side.

You don’t need to be super serious on social media. You don’t also have to be very funny. You can be someone in between, someone who can catch the eye of people in an ocean of posts competing for that “Like” or “Share”. Just don’t be afraid to make fun of yourself. It would even be better if you do it with your team.

Basically, interaction with patients really makes a difference in the dental realm. Hence, take advantage of social media and become a master of it to gain a huge following and have more potential happy patients.
