With so many updates and changes for the new COVID back-to-work dental office protocols, it’s hard to keep up!
This is an important read for all Michigan Dental Practice Owners:
Did you know that the Michigan Department of Labor in coordination with MI OSHA, in May 2021, put out an update to the Emergency Rules for COVID that will be a required mandate through at least October 2021.
(per MI OSHA Law: , 1974 PA 154, MCL 408.1001 to 408.1094, for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and COVID-19).
This (3) page document is stocked full of intricate clarifications, written requirements and facility protocol updates. These will be some of the first things, Michigan OSHA Inspectors will ask for, during impromptu inspection, at your dental office:
- Written/ Customized COVID Preparedness Response Plan to include: Engineering controls, Administrative Controls, Infection Control Updates, PPE updates, Health Surveillance Procedures & Employee Training.
- Employers should include Daily Self-Screening for all Employees & Contractors entering the facility. At minimum, to include a questionnaire.
- Face Coverings ( Regardless of vaccination status), when patients are present, to protect all individuals.
- Signage & Documentation:As they apply to the new Michigan COVID Emergency Rule standards…
In Total, Michigan OSHA required healthcare facilities to have an additional 250 pages of MI OSHA law. Sixty-five of these pages need to be customized to your facility and written Pandemic Preparedness Protocols must also be customized & readily available for MI OSHA Inspectors when they come calling!
