4 Tips For Maintaining Great Hygiene

4 Tips For Maintaining Great Hygiene

Introduction:

When we think of hygiene, we think of some of the most basic aspects of self-care. Yet it’s astonishing to see how many of these simple tasks are overlooked on a daily basis. This can be a result of simple forgetfulness, but these common aspects of personal hygiene are absolutely crucial for staying healthy.

The following four tips will help you to implement an effective hygiene routine.

Tip #1: Don’t Shower Daily

Yes, you read that right.

While it’s common in America for people to wake up first thing in the morning and shower off with hot water, showering every single day can actually be very damaging to your skin. Daily showers strip away natural oils which are actually good for keeping your skin moisturized. Hot water makes the stripping process even more damaging.

Most people find that showering every other day is excellent for keeping their skin moist and strong. Additionally, applying a natural lotion like Aloe Vera after every shower is excellent for keeping your skin moist especially in the drying winter months.

The last shower tip we have is a shower with cold water rather than hot. Showering with cold water is proven to help boost immunity, wake you up in the morning, and it is much gentler on your skin.

Tip #2: Don’t Be French

Now, just because you don’t need to shower every day doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shower at all. In ancient France, perfume was developed for aristocracy who didn’t want to smell bad in a time when bathing was considered a luxury.

Many people—teenage boys in particular—take the same philosophy when it comes to showers today. However, dousing yourself in Axe does not constitute bathing. Your skin and hair still retain all the germs oil and dirt from the last few days. And honestly, the huge noxious smell of the deodorant does not mask the fact that you need a shower.

Tip #3: Brush Daily

Brushing your hair first thing after getting out of the shower is an excellent way to ensure that you get out all unnecessary tangles. This brushing should take place with a comb rather than a thick bristle brush because it is better for keeping your hair safe from breakage. Brushing your hair before you go to bed is also an excellent way to help clean it out from the dirt of the day.

Brushing your teeth should happen two to three times a day, preferably after meals or sugary desserts. The toothpaste you select is just as important as your toothbrush subscription. Choosing a toothpaste which suits your teeth’s needs is crucial. Perhaps you have sensitive teeth, and choosing something like Sensodyne is an excellent way to help your teeth repair. Buying toothpaste that features enamel protection is also aware of the investment.

Additionally, when you’re brushing your teeth do not neglect to brush your tongue. The tongue is an area that most people do not consider brushing, but it is a common gathering place for germs would you can render your teeth brushing moot.

Tip #4: Laundry

Re-wearing a pair of jeans two or three times is perfectly acceptable. Sweatshirts as well. However, due to the collection of dirt, dead skin, and odors, most tops and other forms of bottoms need to be washed after one wear. Same goes for all undergarments.

For the same reason, you should wash your bedding at least once a week.

Conclusion:

Overall, implementing these for personal hygiene tips is not very time-consuming. But like any habit it is going to take time for you to remember to work this into your day. Developing a chart that you check off for the next couple of months is an excellent way for you to retrain the way that you think about hygiene. In time, doing these four things will become second nature, and you will find that your life is healthier as a result.
